Haag Brown Development LLC, the ownership entity of Haag Brown Commercial, recently bought a nearly 1-acre greenhouse property in downtown Bentonville for $3.35 million.
Haag Brown’s development division plans to redevelop the site at Southwest B and Southwest Third streets.
“One route we see for this site is to pursue a project similar in scale and energy to the Motto, the Ledger, or The Compton,” said Josh Brown, co-founder of Haag Brown. “The property is large enough to support a next-level mixed-use project, and its location — less than 400 feet from the Ledger and less than 600 feet from the Motto — is unparalleled in downtown Bentonville.”
“The other path we see for the property might take a more residential focus,” said Greg Haag, co-founder and principal of Haag Brown. “With such strong demand for people wanting to live close to the Bentonville square, the site could lend itself well to a thoughtfully designed townhome development or even true single-family lots.”
Matkins Flowers & Greenhouse will continue to operate there through 2026. The business will reach its 100th anniversary in April. As it considers redevelopment plans for the property, Haag Brown looks to incorporate design elements, such as landscaping, rooftop terraces or green spaces, to honor the property’s century-long history as a nursery and a greenhouse.
Haag Brown Commercial, with offices in Jonesboro and Bentonville, was established in 2010.
